We won’t see it until spring 2013, but Danny Boyle has just started production on his art heist thriller Trance. Digital Spy caught him with his main (bloodied) actor James McAvoy and long-time cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle on the streets of London. Based on Joe Ahearne‘s 2001 British thriller of the same name, the modestly-budgeted drama is being described in the “dark, sexy, hard-edged tone of Boyle films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.” Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel make up the rest of the cast, but could another major star be joining?

Take this with the biggest grain of salt in the world, but the untrustworthy rag The Sun says Angelina Jolie is in the UK to work on the film. If production is already underway, we’ll find out soon, but I wouldn’t bet on it even though her schedule is open. Check out the photos below (with more from Yuku) and after the shoot this fall, Boyle take a break to direct the opening 2012 Summer Olympics ceremony. He will then return to the film and edit it for a March 2013 release via Fox Searchlight.

Synopsis:

An assistant at an auction house masterminds the heist and teams up with a gang of thieves, but suffers a blow to the head and wakes up with amnesia. He is the only one who knows where the painting’s location is and after his continued failure to remember, the gang begins to suspect duplicity on his part and hire a female hypnotist to get into his brain.

We also have the first glimpse of Russell Crowe on the set of Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel from DailyMail. He is donning the costume of Jor-El, Superman’s father. He may look like a spruced up Robin Hood, but I’ll reserve final judgements for the film. Not much is known about David S. Goyer‘s Man of Steel script, but the cast includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Ayelet Zurer and Laurence Fishburne.

Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14th, 2013.
