The Expendables 2 features one female as part of the gang in the form of Nan Yu, but now the gender will be getting a movie all to themselves, according to a report from Variety. The trade reports that Adi Shankar, of 1984 Private Defense Contractors (yes, that is a real production company), who was behind such films as The Grey and Machine Gun Preacher, as well as the upcoming Bitter Pill, Broken City and Killing Them Softly, is putting together the feature.
Talks have already begun with top Hollywood actresses to star in the film that’s being written by the Dutch Southern group, but that’s about all we know thus far. So let the guessing games begin. My dream team would likely consist of Haywire‘s Gina Carano, Kill Bill‘s Uma Thurman, Star Trek‘s Zoe Saldana, action extraordinaire Michelle Rodriguez, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘s Michelle Yeoh and to get that old-school vibe going add a dash of Alien‘s Sigourney Weaver. If Sandra Bullock can prove herself in Alfonso Cuaron‘s Gravity, why not throw her in? Plus, The Dark Knight Rises‘ Anne Hathaway, preferably as the slick and cool Catwoman. Alright, make it happen Hollywood. And I eagerly await a male vs. female Aliens vs. Predators-esque match-up down the road.
