Reported today by Coming Soon is the news that Columbia Pictures will be the home for Wheels, the new original project from Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko. The tandem is most recently known for writing and producing The Last Exorcism, which made an impressive showing at the box-office considering its minuscule budget. To date, the duo’s directing credits include Mail Order Wife and The Virginity Hit.
The film is described as “a high school road movie” that “will follow” the tandem’s reputation for creating “low-budget films that appeal to broad audiences.” Nothing else is known of the story itself, other than the fact that it is an original premise. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will co-produce the film.
Currently, Gurland and Botko are working on The Funhouse, which, according to IMDb, will be released in 3D and directed by Eli Roth.
What do you think of the team’s work thus far?
