You’ve never seen anything like Bunraku. That is both a good and bad thing. During my Toronto International Film Festival screening, I wasn’t feeling well and the whacked out, extravagant visuals did not help, so I exited about halfway through. I’m eager to see it in full during its theatrical release, as our writer James Battaglia loved it.
Guy Moshe, who wrote and directed, brings a kinetic style, but from what I saw, it could use some trimming as a number of scenes felt tedious. There is currently no exact US release, but it will hit theaters sometime in 2011.
