Joseph Gordon-Levitt surprised us with the decision to cast Tony Danza in his directorial debut, but at least the newest addition won’t leave people scratching their heads. Brie Larson (Scott Pilgram vs. the World) will join The Dark Knight Rises star in Don Jon’s Addiction, a modern twist on the story of history’s greatest lover. [Variety]
In the film, Gordon-Levitt plays a selfish, porn-addicted womanizer whose chance encounter with a widow (Julianne Moore) inspires him to become better person. Larson – who proved her comedic chops as Jonah Hill’s love interest in 21 Jump Street – will star as his sister. She joins a group that includes Danza (who plays their father), Scarlett Johansson and Rob Brown.
No doubt we’ll be seeing a lot of the blonde cutie over the next year, as this project is one of many she’s committed to right now. Besides returning for the sequel to 21 Jump Street, she recently signed on to do James Ponsoldt‘s high school dramedy, The Spectacular Now, and will serve as Olivia Wilde’s co-star in both Relanxious and the Peter Bogdanovich comedy, Squirrels to the Nuts.
Don Jon’s Addiction should wrap production soon, but the Gordon-Levitt penned and helmed indie still has yet to see a release date.
Are you familiar with Larson’s work? Do you think she’ll add anything to the film?
