The Disney Vault is a mysterious place where the movies we loved as children live reclusively until the masterminds of the Magic Kingdom decide to release them – but only for a limited time! If you’ve ever been randomly struck by the whim to buy a beloved Disney flick (say the original Tron), chances are you know what I’m talking about. ‘Oh, you don’t have it in store?..But surely I can buy it on-line?…No?! DAMN YOU VAULT DISNEY!’

Anyway, in Disney vault related news, /Film has revealed that the long-buzzed 3D re-release of Beauty and the Beast, which was supposed to have happened on Valentine’s Day of 2010, will not be hitting theaters in 2011. Instead, the heralded post-conversion will be released straight to Blu-Ray, as will The Lion King and 15 other Disney features.

It’s hardly surprising Disney is hitting the Blu-Ray market hard with the latest in viewing gimmicks. I’m personally skeptical of the joys of home-viewing 3D, but with titles like Tron: Legacy, Tangled, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Alice in Wonderland getting this deluxe treatment, it’s likely consumers will swarm to grab these 3D discs up before the Vault closes for another indefinite span of time.

Are you looking forward to Disney’s 3D Blu-Rays?
