Following the first peek at footage last night, 20th Century Fox has dropped the trailer for Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the re-telling of our president’s “greatest hit” moments with the added element of the undead. The Tim Burton-produced period action film seems to feature many of the slow-motion effects the Wanted director is now known for. Some of the sprawling setpiece war battles look enticing, but I can’t help but laugh at Benjamin Walker as Lincoln on top of a train, chopping away at enemies. My hope is this one doesn’t take itself so seriously during dialogue exchanges that the fun element vanishes. With barely any look at performances, my hesitation still remains. Check out the trailer below via TIME.
Update: A new international trailer has popped up with some new footage and actual dialogue. Check it out below.
Synopsis:
The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, also starring Elizabeth Winstead, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell and Erin Wasson and Dominic Cooper, hits theaters June 22nd.
