Last week we had the pleasure of exclusively debuting the trailer for Zak Forsman‘s Down and Dangerous, premiering at this April’s Phoenix Film Festival. This week we have another first look at a trailer for a project at the festival, this time from independent filmmaker Paul Osborne. A two-time veteran of the fest with his previous narrative feature Ten ’til Noon in 2006 and a film festival documentary titled Official Rejection in 2009, this year he returns with Favor.
A crowd-funded feature film based on the age-old saying, “a friend helps you move, a good friend helps you move a dead body,” the film looks to blend dark comedic elements with those of a dramatic thriller. Featuring lead performances by Blayne Weaver and Patrick Day this film looks to provide an interesting character study of best friends trapped in the worst possible situation.
The independent film also features some independent actors on the rise, including a longtime collaborator of New York-based independent filmmaker Gary King. Christina Rose, who is a lead actress, singer and dancer in King’s How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song, has a role in the ensemble. Favor also has a fantiscally devilish poster which you can check out below, along with the synopsis and trailer.
Kip Desmond has gotten everything he’s ever wanted: a thriving career, beautiful wife, and an affluent lifestyle, all of which is put in jeopardy when Abby, the waitress with whom he’s having a casual fling, is accidentally killed in their motel room. Desperate, he ends up on the doorstep of childhood friend Marvin Croat and asks him for a massive favor: help get rid of the body.
Favor will premiere on April 5th at the Phoenix Film Festival.
