With Phil Lord and Chris Miller now looking to back away from Ghostbusters 3, hopefully they’ll finally jump into something original for their next film, but first, the talented duo will pump out a sequel with 22 Jump Street. Coming off the last film, which was far better than it had any right to be, this one finds Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill headed to college.
“The lameness of recycling an idea for a TV show into a film, I think that worked to our benefit,” Hill recently told /Film, when it comes to the series. “And we call ourselves out right out of the gate in this one that sequels are bigger and crappier than the first ones. So that’s kinda the approach we’re taking with this, is to have a very aware attack at ourselves for making a sequel in the first place.” We’ve now got a lengthy new red band trailer which certainly shows off some of these jokes, as well as a new clip, stills, and posters, so check out everything below ahead of a June release.
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
22 Jump Street opens on June 13th.
