After James McAvoy stepped in for Joel Kinnaman (who was in early talks) another replacement has come in for DreamWorks’ story of WikiLeaks. Directed by Bill Condon, the project has Benedict Cumberbatch on board as ringleader Julian Assange and now The Hollywood Reporter has news on his new cohort.
The trade reports that Daniel Bruhl, who broke out in Inglourious Basterds, has stepped in for McAvoy as the X-Men: Days of Future Past actor reportedly had to exit due to his commitment with that Bryan Singer film. Bruhl will be playing Daniel Domcheit-Berg, associate to our main character in the project scripted by Josh Singer that will focus on David Leigh and Luke Harding‘s WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy, as well as Domscheit-Berg‘s own Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website.
Bruhl may also be joining Laura Linney, who is reportedly still circling the project as a CIA intelligence officer, but has not committed yet. We’ve been waiting to see when the talented actor will attach himself to more promising projects and along with this, he has a a few coming up with a major role alongside Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming Rush, as well appearing in Anton Corbijn‘s A Most Wanted Man.
Does Bruhl make for a strong replacement?
