After breaking out with one of the finest independent features this year, the thriller Blue Ruin, as promised writer-director Jeremy Saulnier has begun production on his follow-up. Green Room — we take it he’s embarking on his own Three Colors Trilogy — is now shooting in Portland, Oregon and today brings news of the impressive ensemble.

Thanks to a press release, producers Broad Green Pictures and filmscience have revealed that Patrick Stewart is leading the cast as Darcy Banker, “the unflinching and industrial leader of a ferocious white supremacist fiefdom based in the Pacific Northwest.” Also in the cast is Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, Mark Webber, Kai Lennox, Eric Edelstein and, reteaming with Saulnier, Blue Ruin star Macon Blair.

The official logline of the crime thriller states the story follows “a young punk rock band who find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon a horrific act of violence, fighting for their lives against a gang of white power skinheads intent on eliminating all witnesses.” It’s quite an intriguing premise and after the grueling, extensive process of making his break-out film, hopefully certain things come easier this time around. In the meantime, if you have yet to see Blue Ruin, check it out on Netflix and listen to our discussion.
