And here I was, thinking werewolf movies were already “out.” THR reports that Lucas Till is in negotiations to lead Wolves, the directorial debut from screenwriter and voice actor David Hayter. The movie, which he also wrote, follows a young man who transforms into a werewolf and escapes to a small town called Lupine Ridge (groan) after being accused of murdering his parents. But this isn’t just any normal town; Lupine Ridge is a hotbed of supernatural activity and, on top of that, may also hold secrets to his past.

Hayter‘s career as a screenwriter is very profilic, writing everything from the first two X-Men movies to adapting the undaptable in Watchmen, but to video game fans he is known best as the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Some probably remember Till for his role as Havok in last year’s X-Men: First Class, which gives Wolves a cute little connection between its writer/director and star.

Movies about werewolves have never interested me, and there’s nothing about Wolves that sounds all that appealing based on the plot. However, I do like Hayter‘s screenplay work — so maybe I’ll make an exception. But, I mean, werewolves? Really?

Wolves is expected to start shooting this September in Toronto.

Any interest in seeing Wolves?
