We got an auditory treat this morning as Hans Zimmer‘s The Dark Knight Rises OST was unveiled in its entirety, and now there’s a cherry on top. If you’ve witnessed Rian Johnson‘s first two features, Brick and The Brothers Bloom, some of the best elements were found with the score, composed by his cousin Nathan Johnson. As expected, he’s staying in the family for his third feature, the highly-anticipated, awesome-looking time-travel sci-fi feature Looper.

We’ve now got a featurette for the film, which explores Johnson’s search for new sounds in creating this score. Akin to the legendary Ben Burtt (watch the Wall-E special features for a fascinating look at his methods), Johnson gathered everything from plastic lid to microwave noises in order to bring something very different to the table here. Check it out below via AICN for the film starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo and Jeff Daniels.

Synopsis:

Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. the film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

Looper arrives on September 28th.
