When it comes to their cinematic universe, Marvel needs to plan way ahead if they want things to go smoothly. With batches of films tying into each other leading up to each new incarnation of The Avengers, they’ve even brought on Joss Whedon to have a hand in it all, as he gears up for a release for his sequel in 2015.
Despite the intricate planning, when possible casting news comes in for a film that won’t hit theaters for another three years, it is certainly to be taken with a grain of salt. With that, we’ve got word from DailyMail that Looper‘s Emily Blunt and Luther‘s Ruth Wilson are both battling it out to secure the role of Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2. The character, also known as Carol Susan Jane Danvers, has all your various superhuman powers such as strength, flight and more.
They also note that production for the film could kick off as soon as next year, which may fit into their production schedule if its late 2013. There will likely be much more casting to come, but for now Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson all return for the film arriving on May 1st, 2015.
Could you see Blunt or Wilson as Ms. Marvel?
