It was thought that Brian De Palma and Al Pacino would finally be reuniting for the Joe Paterno/Penn State scandal drama Happy Valley, but with that hitting a financing snag, the two have found another reason to collaborate. As part of this year’s American Film Market, producers have unveiled a project that will see the Scarface and Carlito’s Way duo once again working together.

According to Screen Daily, FilmNation is selling the crime thriller Retribution, which follows “a hitman and a cop who will go to any length to stop a Philadelphia child prostitution ring.” The story comes from Erik Van Looy‘s 2003 Belgian film The Memory Of A Killer, in which the hitman in question suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, but it’s not clear if that will be an aspect in De Palma’s update.

Although Focus Features had the rights a decade ago, it now looks like Relativity International may be picking it up for distribution, so hopefully that deal gets firmed up as AFM. It’s an enticing prospect to see these two back in the crime drama world and as we await more news, check out the trailer for the original below.

Have you seen the original film? Are you looking forward to their reunion?
