Since the year kicked off, you’ve likely heard a great a deal about one of Sundance Film Festival’s best dramas (and easily one of my favorites of 2013 thus far), David Lowery‘s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. With his directorial break-out the filmmaker has crafted a subdued, slow-burn drama that aches with excellent performances from its ensemble. Ahead of its late summer release, the film is popping up at Cannes and we’ve finally got the first piece of footage.
Taken from the opening moments of the film, we follow Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck as quarreling lovers amongst a beautiful sunset. Soon after the exchange we see below (via EW), Mara reveals she is pregnant and then the story truly kicks in as Affleck makes a bad decision that changes the course of their relationship.
