We’re less than a week out until Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar arrives, and following the first batch of reviews, the media blitz continues. After soundtrack details dropped yesterday, today brings insight into the film’s creative process with an extensive 25-minute conversation between the director and his main cast, Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.
When asked if he believes a film needs to be understood, Nolan says, “I don’t think it does. And I think that 2001 is one of those rare instances where it’s a purely cinematic narrative and it really tells you that it doesn’t need to be understood — it needs to be felt. But it also becomes one of the great inspirations and one of the great touchstones that you can talk to anyone about.” Also discussing the science and practicality of the film, exploring NASA, initially getting on board with the film, and much more, check out the spoiler-free conversation below thanks to THR.

Interstellar arrives on film on November 5th and everywhere on the 7th.
