A few years ago, director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) teamed with Ridley Scott’s production company for an extensive undertaking in the world of cinema. They put a global call out for anyone to submit footage from their life, but from only a single, specific day in July. Many months of editing later, we got the feature film Life in a Day, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival and was later released on YouTube. Now, in time for the holidays, we have Macdonald’s follow-up.
Taking the shorter form of 50 minutes, Christmas In a Day adds the restriction of sticking just to the United Kingdom as we follow a number of stories in the region, including one family coping with illness, the joy of kids on Christmas morning, the killing of a goose, and much more. Wherever you are in the world today, if you want to add some holiday spirit (and not just the sugar-coated version one might expect from many weeks of non-stop advertisments), check out the documentary below.
