Conventionality is not a term the people behind A Field In England are familiar with. Not only does the plot of Ben Wheatley‘s latest subvert expectations, as we follow a group of soldiers in the Civil War, who stumble upon a mushroom field and go insane, but its U.K. release a few days ago broke new ground, premiering on Blu-ray/DVD, in theaters, on VOD and on TV on the same day. Now they are going one step further and releasing an extensive masterclass diving into every imaginable facet of production.
Split into four sections — development, pre-production, shooting and post-production — each area if filled with a wealth of information. We have the early ideas of the film, the actual shooting schedule, call sheet, video featurettes on various production areas, as well as editing, the score and finally, the multi-media release. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so check out the official site for more and get a taste in a 20-minute overview featurette below, in what is a gold mine for aspiring filmmakers and fans alike.
Check out the complete masterclass on the official site.
A Field in England is out in the U.K. and will get released later this year in the U.S. via Drafthouse Films.
