Sheldon Turner, who co-wrote the Oscar-nominated Up in the Air along with Jason Reitman, is set to make his directorial debut with By Virtue Fall. The film is a thriller, based on an original screenplay that Turner himself wrote. Ironically, it will be financed and produced by Nicolas Chartier, the producer of The Hurt Locker who was banned from attending the Academy Awards. Jennifer Klein is also scheduled to produce.
Turner and company are hoping for a production budget that falls under $20 million. They are also looking to start production in September. Coming Soon’s report describes the synopsis as follows:
The movie revolves around a man who is framed by his mentor and winds up in prison. Once released, he’s fixated on getting revenge on his former partner, who has flourished in his new life and tried to cleanse himself of the past.
In addition to this project, Turner co-wrote Ben Affleck‘s upcoming film The Town, a drama starring Jeremy Renner and Chris Cooper among others.
Turner has certainly been working with big-time names. But do you think he has the skill to make a successful directorial debut?
