After premiering on the festival circuit this year, one won’t have to wait long for the latest film from Atom Egoyan: a revenge thriller titled Remember. Picked up by A24 for a release next month, we now have the first domestic trailer.
Led by Christopher Plummer, his character discovered the existence of a Nazi guard who murdered his family some seventy years ago is living in the States under an assumed identity. The plot ensues when Zev (Plummer), an old man himself, embarks on a cross-continent road trip for justice, uncovering long-hidden secrets.
We said in our review, “Remember is part vengeance thriller, part contemplation of the nature of memory and its inevitable demise, and Benjamin August’s debut script has a tendency to wildly switch between the two. But it is steadily supported on the shoulders of Christopher Plummer, still mesmerizing in his twilight years. There is more to read in his every wrinkled brow than a thousand other actors’ performances. He has the weight of experience, if not in this instance memory, in his cragged visage.”
Also starring Martin Landau, Dean Norris, Henry Czerny, Bruno Ganz, Heinz Lieven, and Jürgen Prochnow, check out the trailer below.
Remember opens on January 15th.
