Yesterday it was announced that M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender will be post converted to 3D. Today we have a new trailer noting as much. The film stars Noah Ringer as protagonist Aang and Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel as antagonist Prince Zuko. Producer Frank Marshall actually responded to the negative buzz surrounding the 3D decision:

We have been looking at the 3-D for months. The movie was designed to take advantage of the conversion and the filmmakers will supervise.

The new trailer can be seen below via Apple.

Plot: Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war—torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live—action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

The Last Airbender hits theaters July 2nd, 2010.

What do you think about the latest trailer? Do you think the film will warrant 3D?
