Back in March, it was rumored that there was to be a stop-motion version of The Addams Family, with plans for Tim Burton to direct. The producer of the project, Christopher Meladandri has confirmed that it is still moving forward, and Burton is the still the man in mind to helm it. Speaking to ComingSoon, Meladandri stated:

“It’s all very, very early, but we are developing with [Tim Burton directing] in mind,” said Meledandri, “…We’re just now at the story phase. Stuff has been written as though we are doing it in black and white, but that’s not correct. It’s not incorrect, but it’s not correct. We haven’t gotten to that point.”

Obviously it is still early in the developmental stages, however what we do know is that it will be based on the original Charles Addams series of cartoons, which ran in The New Yorker, rather than the numerous spin-off films and TV shows.

Should Burton himself decline, the safe money would be on him producing and Henry Selick directing, after his successes with both The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline.
