Could Pirates Of The Caribbean go the way of Fast Five? After Justin Lin delivered the franchise’s best entry with the fifth iteration, our first round-up of potential directors for the latest Jack Sparrow adventure have us more intrigued that we would have thought. According to Deadline, with The Lone Ranger near completion, Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp are now jotting down a list of who could take on Pirates Of The Caribbean 5.
We’ll start with the most promising, and as of right now the most probable according to sources, as the Oscar-nominated team behind Kon-Tiki, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandber, are in the running. We were major fans of their Norwegian high seas adventure and they could certainly bring a welcome style to this franchise. Next on the list is Fredrik Bond, who last gave us the panned Sundance drama The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman. Coming from the commercials world, however, he does have a flashy style that could bring back all the energy Rob Marshall sucked out of the series with On Stranger Tides.
Lastly, the biggest name on this shortlist is Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. While he has a bevy of projects lined up, we wouldn’t be surprised if he took this easy cash grab if the opportunity arises. Disney is looking to kick off production as soon as this year in order to make the July 10th, 2015 release date and they want to decide by this month, so check back soon for news on who gets the gig.
Out of the above names, who would you like to see direct the film?
