Festival buzz can more often than not hurt a film, so with great curiosity comes Silver Linings Playbook — not only the actual big winner at Toronto International Film Festival, but the one seemed to connect with critics most. We too loved David O. Russell‘s follow-up to The Fighter (full review here) and although we have yet to see a few fall films like Les Miserables, Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty and Lincoln, it currently seems to be the mostly likely choice to take home the top Oscar, at least in this early stage.
Following an initial trailer, a new one has landed to drum up some more buzz and it indeed improves on the first. With more heart and laughs, this story of damaged people coming together looks to be quite a stirring drama. Adapted from Matthew Quick‘s novel, check out the new trailer below via Yahoo for the film starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Anupam Kher, Julia Stiles, Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker.
Synopsis:
Pat Peoples (Cooper) is a man always trying to look on the bright side of life – the title of the story takes it’s name from the expression that “every cloud has a silver lining.” Released from the hospital after losing his wife to another man, Pat believes this age-old adage is just the ticket to trying to win her back and get his life on track. Trying to remain resolutely undiscouraged, Pat moves back in with his parents and devotes himself entirely to becoming the man his wife always wanted him to be. But it’s an uphill battle. Until Pat meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a beautiful young woman whose life also has not turned out the way she wanted. Together, the couple will try and navigate through their lives and stay true to who they are, always just one adventure away from a unique friendship, and possibly even love.
Silver Linings Playbook arrives on November 21st.
