Although it feels to be arriving at least a half-decade too late, Warner Bros. are hoping that they can capture audiences once again with 300: Rise of an Empire. After Zack Snyder‘s 300 became a smash hit back in 2007, the follow-up was set to arrive this past August, but was pushed to a less-crowded playing field of the following spring and today brings a new full-length trailer.

Noam Murro, who last gave us the low-key, no-action drama Smart People back in 2008, directs the story by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, which is a sidequel of sorts focusing on different factions operating in Greece at the time of the original. While the original’s star Gerard Butler is no more than a cadaver in this tease, Lena Headey, riding off her Game of Thrones fame, gets some decent screen time. Also starring Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton, Hans Matheson, Rodrigo Santoro, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O’Connell and Andrew Tiernan, check it out below.

300: Rise of an Empire arrives on March 7th, 2014.
