Chalk up one more film the world doesn’t need, potentially starring an actor who could do much, much better.

While Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Black Death) starred in the first Silent Hill, one would only hope that the man had a little self-respect not to return for its follow-up, currently dubbed Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Bean will be potentially taking a paycheck alongside Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Kit Harington (HBO’s Game of Thrones – also starring Bean). To-be-directed by Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane), the film focuses on Heather Mason (Clemens), who is still running from the dark and evil terrors from the first film with her father, Harry (Bean) on the cusp of her 18th birthday. Subsequently, Harry disappears and Heather must find him, only to learn that “she’s not who she thinks he is.” [Bloody Disgusting]

I’m left a tad confused, and forgive me as I struggle to remember that gem of a first film, but why the name change? I do recall Bean’s name being Christopher De Silva in the original, so is Harry some kind of alias? Do demonic forces really care what your name is? A rose by any other name, I suppose. In any case, BD has no word yet on a release date, only that the film is “lensing in Toronto,” so if you’re really chomping at the bit to get your Silent Hill: Revelation 3D news, hold tight a little longer. Until then you can (and should) try and catch Bean in his latest sword-wielder, Black Death, out this month. Check out the first image from the film below.

Are you excited for a Silent Hill sequel? Do you think Sean Bean should return?
