Sam Raimi recently spoke to MTV and talked briefly about Spiderman 4. First Raimi confirmed that they are not doing back-to-back movies like some reported, he stated, “just that one film”. Raimi then commented on the villains, “All the characters or villain or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee’s creations or those that came after him.”
It is pretty obvious that a villain would be chosen from the Spiderman universe. What is interesting is that he says “villain or villains”, I hope he doesn’t go down the Spiderman 3 route but I think two villains can work. I am glad Sam Raimi is staying on, unlike some who say he ruined the series with Spiderman 3. I don’t like Spiderman 3 but its not a bad movie, and it shouldn’t ruin how good the first movie was and especially the second movie. I hope to see Mysterio or Carnage in Spiderman’s universe soon, those are my favorites left untouched.
Spiderman 4 is currently slated for May 6th, 2011. Sam Raimi also returns back to his horror roots this summer in the awesome-looking Drag Me to Hell, which is set for May 29th.
