Well, look what the cat dragged in. Like any initially successful DreamWorks franchise, it must be spun off, sequelized, and updated until every last bit of life gets sucked out of it. With Shrek having its final chapter, they decided to continue the story with the swashbuckling Puss in the aptly titled Puss in Boots. After an initial teaser, we now have our first extended look. It may be me just coming out of the horrendously dull Cars 2, but I think this looks somewhat funny. And I laughed, which is more than can be said for Pixar’s first disaster.

Puss in Boots is directed by Chris Miller (Shrek the Third) and features an ensemble voice cast that includes Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris. Check out the trailer and poster below via Yahoo! Movies.

Synopsis: Way before Puss ever met Shrek, our suave and furry feline hero goes on a swashbuckling ride, as he teams with mastermind Humpty Dumpty and the street-savvy Kitty to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs.

Puss in Boots hits theaters November 4th, 2011 in IMAX 3D.

What do you think about the theatrical trailer? Did it need this spin-off?
