Screen Gems have announced they are further pushing back Scott Stewart’s Priest until May 2011. The film, an adaptation of Hyung Win-moo‘s Korean comic book series, had already been postponed from August 2010 to January 2011 so it could be released in 3-D, then again to March 2011.

Priest is set 100 years from now and tells the story of a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) who teams up with a sheriff and priestess to track down a group of vampire outlaws who have kidnapped his niece, and is also being produced by Sam Raimi.

There is no official word on the cause for the new delay, my own personal guess is that they are waiting for the filmgoing world to completely erase from their minds the last Stewart/Bettany collaboration, Legion.
