Another day, another Jurassic World addition; following yesterday’s news that 12-year-old Ty Simpkins has boarded the Universal tentpole, word has come regarding the casting of his older brother. Walking in the footsteps of director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed), actor Nick Robinson is also jumping from Sundance to this project.
After his break-out role in this year’s The Kings of Summer, Variety confirms he’s in talks to star in the film. Although details are spare, the project is said to be a reboot of sorts, with Bryce Dallas Howard also in talks for a role and Jake Johnson rumored for another. Penned by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, Jurassic World opens on June 12th, 2015.
In other casting news, it looks like Stephen Frears’ biopic on cyclist Lance Armstrong will be the first out of the gate. With Ben Foster taking on the lead role, the is script coming from John Hodge (Trainspotting, Trance) and tracks the career of the cyclist, including his bout with testicular cancer, as well the doping charges that banned him from the sport for life.
Set to begin production on Friday in France and the U.K, the shoot has rounded out its supporting ensemble. Screen Daily reports that Chris O’Dowd has joined the cast as journalist David Walsh, while Guillaume Canet (Last Night, Tell No One) and Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons in unknown supporting roles. We can expect a fall 2014 release for the project, while the documentary on the athlete, The Armstrong Lie, lands this fall.
