After recruiting Sufjan Stevens for Call Me by Your Name, Luca Guadagnino continues his streak of attracting trailblazing musical talent for his projects with Suspiria. For his reimagining of the Dario Argento film, none other than Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke will provide the score, his first ever. Set to be released the same day as the film, on October 26, is the full soundtrack, and now the first listen has arrived.

“There’s a way of repeating in music that can hypnotize. I kept thinking to myself that it’s a form of making spells,” Yorke told THR. “So when I was working in my studio I was making spells. I know it sounds really stupid, but that’s how I was thinking about it. It was a sort of freedom I’ve not had before. I’ve not worked in the format of song arrangement. I’m just exploring.”

Rory O’Connor said in his Venice review of the film, “Guadagnino has almost managed to pull off the impossible with this new Suspiria, a lavish, kitsch-porn piece of not particularly scary macabre horror that bears the director’s signature aesthetic stamp while staying loyal to the original in many ways.”
