With her break-out role in There’s Something About Mary, many considered Cameron Diaz the new face of Hollywood comedy and while she’s had success since then (even recently, with her box office hit Bad Teacher), the actress is now looking to pair up with a female comedy star truly on the rise.

The Wrap reports Diaz is lining up the revenge comedy The Other Woman over at 20th Century Fox, which could see her teaming with Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig, who is “under consideration” for a role. No relation to the little-seen Natalie Portman film, the project comes from a script by Black Lister Melissa Stack (I Want to F— Your Sister) and follows a mistress who finds out her lover is married. Instead of fleeing, she plots revenge with the husband’s wife.

While it’s being compared to The First Wives Club, there is no other talent attached at the time. In the meantime, check out a neat vintage poster for the Coens-scripted remake of Gambit, which stars Diaz, along with Alan Rickman and Colin Firth. Directed by Michael Hoffman, the caper comedy just had its UK premiere will hit US theaters on 2013.
