With new films from David Cronenberg, Olivier Assayas, the Dardennes, David Michod, Mike Leigh, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, and more likely to premiere at Cannes Film Festival, the only one confirmed thus far is the opening night selection, Grace of Monaco. With Jane Campion heading up the main jury, we also recently got news that Abbas Kiarostami will preside over the Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury, joined by Noémie Lvovsky, Daniela Thomas, Mahamat-Saleh Haround and Joachim Trier.
Back to Olivier Dahan‘s drama surrounding Grace Kelly and her moves to prevent war between France and Monaco, we’ve now got a new full-length U.K. trailer and poster for the film, which still hasn’t been given a U.S. release date by The Weinstein Company. Our longest preview yet showcases another glitzy opener, after The Great Gatsby took the reigns last year. Also starring Tim Roth, Frank Langella and Paz Vega, check out the new trailer and poster below, with a hat tip to HeyUGuys.
Set in 1962, six years after her celebrated Wedding of the Century, “Grace of Monaco” is an intimate snapshot of a year in the life of the twentieth century’s most iconic Princess – Grace Kelly – as she strived to reconcile her past and her present, a yearning for a return to the big screen with her newfound role as a mother of two, monarch of a European principality and wife to Prince Ranier III.
Grace of Monaco hits U.K. theaters on June 6th, but doesn’t have a U.S. release date yet.
