With both last year’s The Concert and this year’s Beginners, Melanie Laurent has been steadily but solidly taking advantage of the global recognition she received in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds.
It now looks as if she’s poised to take a step in an even more commercial direction, as she is in talks to join the cast of Louis Leterrier‘s (Clash of the Titans) Now You See Me. The film, to be co-starred by Jesse Eisenberg, who will soon be seen in the promising-looking action comedy 30 Minutes or Less, is based on a screenplay from Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) and Edward Ricourt. The story follows a team of “FBI agents tracking a group of illusionists and magicians who pull off bank heists during their performances and shower money on the audience.” It sounds like an intriguing premise, and the combination of Eisenberg and Laurent, which may seem to be an unlikely one, could produce some worthwhile results. There isn’t any official production information on the film as of yet, but it will be distributed at Summit.
What do you think of the film’s premise? Would Laurent be a good addition?
