If the last few years are any indication, if Michael Fassbender is part of an ensemble, the film is likely a must-watch. While we’ve seen him in everything from major tentpoles to quality dramas, the actor is now lining up a smaller project titled Frank and we’ve got some news of additional casting.
Already leading alongside Anna Karenina‘s Domhnall Gleeson and break-out star Scoot McNairy (Argo, Killing Them Softly), we’ve got word from Albuquerque Business that Maggie Gyllenhaal has joined the comedy film set to be directed by Lenny Abrahamson (What Richard Did).
Scripted by Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare at Goats) and Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), the project follows an aspiring musician (Gleeson) who finds himself in over his head when he joins an eccentric rock band led by Fassbender’s character. There’s no word yet how Gyllenhaal fits in, but we’d have to assume she’ll be of romantic interest to Fassbender.
Production kicks off in a few weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a likely late 2013 release.
Are you looking forward to Gyllenhaal and Fassbender teaming up?
