UPDATE: Variety has reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play son of Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins), Alberto Falcone. He is also known as “The Holiday Killer” and was featured in The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.
With production set to begin soon, Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. are locking down their cast for quite possibly the most-anticipated upcoming blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises. We’ve already go Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine returning. Then there is Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane.
Now, the rumors are true and Nolan’s Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been confirmed for a unknown role. Also circling the project is indie starlet Juno Temple in a supporting role as a “street-smart Gotham girl.” Probably most known for Atonement and Year One, she has starred in a number of high-profile independent films including Jordan Scott‘s Cracks (released this weekend), Greenberg, and Kaboom. While the story is under wraps, but we heard a possible scenario in which Batman would team up with Selina Kyle (Hathaway) and take on The League of Shadows, containing Talia al Ghul, Bane, and a character that Gordon-Levitt possibly could play, Black Mask or Deadshot. But for now, we honestly know nothing for sure and I’d like to keep it that way.
The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters July 20th, 2012.
What do you think about these two cast additions?
