Arriving in theaters next summer, we still have fairly little idea what Jurassic World will be about — only that it’s a real-time continuation of sorts from the previous films, but likely without any of the original cast. Coming from director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) and a script by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson have been confirmed and today we have a few other additions to the cast.
First, for anyone holding out some hope Dr. Ian Malcolm might return, Jeff Goldblum has confirmed with Huffington Post it’s not looking likely. When asked about his potential involvement, he said, “Yeah, and they haven’t called me for 4” and added the same was the case for the previous film. “No, nobody asked me, but I was perfectly satisfied with the two that I did. I’m still satisfied with that and I’ll be the first in line to see anything else.” As for Independence Day 2 , that’s another story and one can read the source for that news.
Back to Jurassic, Deadline reports that Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Men In Black) has taken the villain role and, after being rumored, Irrfan Khan (who was last seen in Life of Pi and whose drama The Lunchbox opens today) has officially joined the cast. The Wrap reports the latter star will take the role of Patel, “the billionaire owner of a new Jurassic Park,” while D’Onofrio takes on the role of his company’s CFO, “who projects the image of a normal family man to mask a hidden edge.” Following a production this spring and summer in Hawaii and New Orleans, Jurassic World opens on June 12th, 2015.
