With production on his next project, the Denis Villeneuve-helmed Prisoners, about halfway done, Hugh Jackman is looking towards potential future projects and he’s settled on his first promising option. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor, who is coming off his first Oscar nomination for Les Miserables, has lined up a new property over at Paramount.
Although it doesn’t hit bookshelves until tomorrow, producer Tom Rothman is set to give Harlan Coben‘s next novel for the big screen treatment, and has Jackman attached in the lead role. Coben, whose Tell No One was given stellar treatment in France thanks to Guillaume Canet, is known for his twisty thrillers and this one would see Jackman as Jake Fisher, a man “who watched the love of his life, Natalie, marry another man. Six years have passed when Jake comes across the other man’s obituary. He resolves to attend the funeral, hoping to catch a glimpse of Natalie. But the mourning widow is not Natalie, throwing all of his past memories with the woman into question.”
Considering there is no director, much less screenwriter, attached to this project, expect it to be a few years down the road. However, Jackman is indeed set to grace the screen this summer, returning as Logan aka Wolverine in James Mangold‘s The Wolverine. We’ve finally got solid details on when we’ll be able to see the first footage, as the director recently tweeted the debut trailer will land on March 27th, before being attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation the following weekend. In the meantime, check out some new stills from the film below via Empire.
The Wolverine lands on July 26th.
