This past weekend, Universal Pictures ponied up a heft chunk of change — $1.2 million, to be exact — for Aaron Berg‘s look into the formation of Britain’s MI6 and now some talent is already getting interested. According to The Wrap, Hugh Jackman is circling the project, which takes place around the time of World War I, while Brett Ratner and Justin Lin are a few filmmakers that are eying it as potential directing vehicles. It’s still quite early, so back as confirmation comes in.
Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice has already wrapped, but we’ve now got a late addition to the cast. According to an interview with The Dr. Drew Podcast (via Cigs & Red Vines), Eric Roberts revealed he took part in the shoot, but, unfortunately, gave no details on his role. This makes the 68th project — yes, seriously — which the actor has in some form of production. Also starring Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Katherine Waterston, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Martin Short, Maya Rudolph, Kevin J. O’Connor, Jeannie Berlin, Peter McRobbie and Joanna Newsom, Vice will likely land next fall.
Lastly, the prolific Michael Winterbottom has been putting together the pieces on The Face of an Angel, based on the controversial Italian trial and conviction of American student Amanda Knox. We recently got word that Rush and Inglorious Basterds star Daniel Brühl has joined, playing a documentary filmmaker investigating the events. Now Deadline lets us know that Kate Beckinsale and Cara Delevingne have joined, with the latter star is the suspect and the former is another journalist involved in tracking the case. Production will kick off soon in Italy.
Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
