One of these things is not like the other. With CinemaCon (formerly known as ShoWest) kicking off in Las Vegas, there is a wealth of promotional material hitting the web. I’ve rounded up the most interesting of pieces here via Cinema Blend and Coming Soon. First up (above), you see our first look at a WETA-created ape from the upcoming prequel Rise of the Apes. Mo-cap extraordinaire Andy Serkis plays the ape and is joined by James Franco and Freida Pinto. The film will open August 5th.
We also have the first still from Alexander Payne‘s Sideways follow-up The Descendants. The drama/comedy stars George Clooney and will hit theaters December 16th, 2011. You can also see the first image from another acclaimed director who has taken a filmmaking break for much of the last decade. Cameron Crowe is back with We Bought a Zoo. Also starring Scarlett Johansson, you can see the image featuring our other lead Matt Damon below. It will open December 23rd, 2011.
Lastly we have what looks to be the first still from Andrew Niccol‘s sci-fi adventure Now. The Gattaca helmer is working with Roger Deakins in his first digitally shot film and you can see the image below featuring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. The film will hit theaters October 28th, 2011.
