Do you smell that? It is the faint whiff of Oscars in the hands of Meryl Streep. She stars alongside Jim Broadbent in the Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady and we have a new look from Daily Mail (with a hat tip to Cinema Blend for the image on the right).

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who worked with Streep on Mamma Mia, this simply looks like the exact type of film and performance Oscar voters go for. Their resemblance is uncanny and with the acting power of Broadbent and Streep, you can bet we’ll hear some sort of buzz come awards season.

One can see Denis Thatcher next to his wife at the 1980 Conservative Party conference in Brighton in the new photo below. It’s reported the film follows “a big spectrum of her life in order to sum up the kind of person she was, and why she has this iconic status.”

The Iron Lady is waiting on a US distributor, but expect it by the end of the year.
