Is everyone ready for some release dates of upcoming films, some you won’t be able to see for well over three years? Disney has us covered with their latest round-up, announcing that Pirates of the Caribbean 5, which just nabbed a writer over the weekend (but is still without a director), will join The Avengers 2, Star Wars: Episode VII, Justice League and more in the summer of 2015, as one can see Johnny Depp return as Jack Sparrow when the film lands on July 10th, 2015.
In other Disney sequel news, after being rumored for a late year bow, James Bobin‘s The Muppets 2 — which is beginning production soon with Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and more — will land on March 21st, 2014, alongside Summit’s YA adaptation Divergent. When it comes to original properties, Brad Bird‘s secretive Damon Lindelof-scripted sci-fi film starring George Clooney (now confirmed), titled 1952, will land on the prime holiday date of December 19th, 2014 in 3D, of course.
In smaller updates, the Angelina Jolie-led Sleeping Beauty spin-off Maleficent has been pushed back four months from a March 2014 bow to a July 2nd, 2014. Disney has also canned their 3D update of The Little Mermaid, previously set for September, signaling we may (thankfully) see less of these in the future. Then, in the most minor update imaginable, Captain America: The Winder Soldier, out on April 4th, 2014, and Guardians of the Galaxy, hitting theaters on August 1st, 2014, will both be released in 3D.
Which of the above Disney releases are you most anticipating?
