Riding a wave of acclaim and controversy from their collaboration on Selma, helmer Ava DuVernay and star David Oyelowo have found another civil-rights narrative to tackle — one arguably even more relevant to our current state. Per Variety, it’s learned they’re setting sights on “a feature film chronicling a love story and murder mystery during the time of Hurricane Katrina.”
Participant Media’s announcement has confirmed this, the duo’s third collaboration (watch the first two here), is an original story. Her own comments play things close to the chest, merely telling us to expect something that “will explore the complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself.” Whatever comes of it, another DuVernay-Oyelowo outing is sure to be one of our most-anticipated of its respective year.
Any thoughts on their next project, even with the dearth of details?
