What if your imagination came to life? It’s the base question at the source of many sci-fi films, and most recently, the Alison Pill-led Zoom, which has received its first trailer. The story concerns a comic book artist, a novelist, and a film director who all have a hand in telling the story of the others life, despite living in different dimensions. Combining some vivid, interesting animation — to liberate the comic reality created by Pill — along with live action, the film looks to be an interesting blend of heady drama and light comedy.
Zoom is the sophomore feature from Pedro Morelli, off a script penned by first time screenwriter Matt Hensen. See the trailer below ahead of a release next month, along with a poster for the film that also stars Gael García Bernal and Tucker and Dale VS. Evil‘s Tyler Labine.
ZOOM is a fast-paced, pop-art inspired, multi-plot contemporary comedy. The film consists of three seemingly separate but ultimately interlinked storylines about a comic book artist, a novelist, and a film director. Each character lives in a separate world but authors a story about the life of another.
The comic book artist, Emma, works by day at an artificial love doll factory, and is hoping to undergo a secret cosmetic procedure. Emma’s comic tells the story of Edward, a cocky film director with a debilitating secret about his anatomy. The director, Edward, creates a film that features Michelle, an aspiring novelist who escapes to Brazil and abandons her former life as a model. Michelle, pens a novel that tells the tale of Emma, who works at an artificial love doll factory… And so it goes…
Zoom will be released on September 2nd on VOD and in theaters.
