After last year’s The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Aardman Animation has announced their next feature and it’s one that sees them pull from their most famous franchise. First debuting in Wallace and Gromit‘s A Close Shave back in 1995, Shaun the Sheep went on to get its own TV show in 2007 and after nearly 100 episodes, the animation company have revealed they are turning it into a feature film.
Announced in a press release, Richard Starzak and Mark Burton will be writing and directing the film, which follows our star sheep grabbing his flock and moving from the country to the big city to save their farmer, who has gotten himself into trouble. While I’d rather see this company focus on an original property, one can’t fault them for going the DreamWorks route once in awhile.
Speaking of that animation studio, they recently greenlit a sequel to last month’s cave-family story The Croods. Co-directors Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders are set to return, along with lead voice actors, Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds. Considering the film will likely pass $500 million worldwide, this one shouldn’t come as a surprise and as we await more details, check out a clip from A Close Shave below.
