While the above headline could fool you into thinking we’re writing a post that’s about 32 years late, that’s not the case. Rather, we have a new iteration of Vacation that travels quite literally a similar path when it comes to the original. This time around we follow a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) who surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip to — you guessed it — Walley World.
Following a raunchy red band trailer, a tamer theatrical version has arrived that’s mostly different. Marking the directorial debut of Horrible Bosses writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the film also stars Leslie Mann, Skyler Gisondo, Steele Stebbins, Chris Hemsworth (in what looks to be a scene-stealing supporting role), and a cameo or two from familiar faces. Check out the trailer and new poster below.
Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.
Vacation opens on July 29th.
