With action stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone set for some one-on-one time with the prison thriller The Tomb, more casting is now underway. The Rite and 1408 director Mikael Hafstrom has found a warden for his upcoming film, as producer Mark Canton revealed on The Mathew Aaron show (via AICN), who would be joining the duo.
300 and Immortals producer Canton said, “[Jim] Caviezel will be playing the role of the warden of the prison in which Schwarzenegger and Stallone attempt to escape from.” In the film, Stallone is Ray Breslin, a security expert who needs to escape a prison he himself created while Schwarzenegger will play an inmate who has mysterious motivations.
Ever since The Passion of the Christ sadly killed much of Caviezel’s Hollywood career, I’ve been waiting for the actor’s return. He has found some success with TV shows like Person of Interest, but his film choices have been quite stale. While a seemingly silly action film like this one will likely do little to actually advance his options, it will be nice to see him back in the spotlight. Check out Canton on the show below.
The Tomb begins shooting in Louisiana this spring for a likely 2013 release.
What do you think about Caviezel returning to Hollywood? Is this a good fit?
