While they have a major rest of the year with Argo, Cloud Atlas and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Warner Bros is now filling out some of their 2013 calendar. For those expecting an update on Alfonso Cuaron‘s Gravity, which was previously set to open next month before getting a vague 2013 date, you will be massively disappointed.
Moving on to some concrete news, they’ve moved their horror film The Conjuring, directed by Insidious‘ James Wan, from a January bow to the prime summer location of July 19th. Starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, it will now open against R.I.P.D. and the animation Turbo. They’ve also set a March 15th release for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, the magician comedy starring Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, James Gandolfini, Alan Arkin and Jay Mohr. It will now square off against the comedy 21 and Over and the remake of Carrie.
In other comedy news, they’ve set an August 9th bow for We’re the Millers, the pot comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms, Will Poutler and Emma Roberts. It’s got some big competition, going up against Sony’s blockbuster RoboCop. And last, but certainly not least, we move into drama territory as the next film from Incendies director Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners, has been given a September 20th release. Starring Hugh Jackman, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo, it will be up against the Chris Hemsworth racing drama Rush and I’d expect both to premiere at TIFF.
Which film are you most looking forward?
