With the Super Bowl just a few days away, not only will it bring studios out of the woodwork to showcase their biggest upcoming tentpoles (namely Iron Man 3, Lone Ranger ,Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z), but commercials featuring some top Hollywood talent will be showcased. We’ve got the first example today, as Peter Berg has teamed once again with his star of The Rundown, Dwayne Johnson for a Got Milk! ad, commissioned by The National Milk Mustache Campaign. Featuring the star roughing the apocalyptic terrain, Berg once again deals with some aliens after last summer’s Battleship, making for a quick, enjoyable minute-long commercial.
In other Johnson news, he’ll back back for Justin Lin‘s Fast & Furious 6 and while, for some reason unbeknownst to us, Universal has remained tightlipped about the film that features car racing and other shenanigans, the studio has finally let loose the first plot synopsis — and it sounds a lot like the other films. Then again, Fast Five proved that one can have a ridiculously fun summer blockbuster experience with little brains, so hopefully this one will follow the trend. Check out Dwayne Johnson’s ad below, along with the synopsis for the film, which sees Paul Walker, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano taking part.
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
Fast & Furious 6 arrives on May 24th.
